7 Deadly Flower

Some people have a habit of plucking flowers and smelling it. Unless you know the flowers, you may put yourself in danger.

The 7 Most Beautiful - But-Deadly Flowers in the World. Share with your friends and family members.

Beautiful as it may be, some flowers are much more than it appear to be. Believe it or not, these seemingly harmless plants can really ruin your vacation. To help you know what flowers to stay away from on your trips, study the list of the world's most attractive but dangerous flowers:

1. Autumn Crocus

One of the most endangered plants in the world, Autumn crocus is also probably the most poisonous. It contains colchicines, a deadly drug used effectively in the treatment for gout.

Unlike other toxins found in the flowers above, colchicines, an arsenic-like poison has NO antidote Autumn crocus poisoning leads to reduced blood pressure and cardiac arrest.

2. Oleander

Oleander is known as one of the most poisonous plants on Earth, often used in suicidal cases around southern India . The numerous toxic compounds contained in the entire Oleander plant, including oleandrin and nerine, affect the nervous, digestive and cardiovascular systems, all at the same time.

Oleander poisoning leads to drowsiness, tremors, seizures, coma and even death. The plants sap causes skin irritation and severe eye inflammation.

3. Rhododendron

This popular evergreen shrub, featuring large, beautiful blooms, has been known for its toxicity since ancient times. Xenophon recorded the odd behaviour of a group of Greek soldiers who had eaten honey from rhododendron flowers.

Rhododendron contains Andromeda toxin which causes nausea, severe pains, paralysis and even death. Azaleas, members of the same plant-family as rhododendron, are also poisonous.

4. Angels Trumpet

Despite its name, there's something very evil about this plant. The toxins it contains can be fatal to humans and a number of animals. Known as a powerful hallucinogen, Angels Trumpet should not be used for recreational purposes, since the risk of an overdose is very high.
Angels Trumpet plants contain a variable amount of tropane alkaloids, like atropine and scopolamine, and it is used in shamanic rituals by indigenous tribes in western Amazonia .

5. Belladonna

Known as one of the most poisonous plants in the Western Hemisphere , Belladonna contains potentially lethal tropane alkaloids. The entire plant is harmful, but its good-looking berries pose the most danger, especially to kids.

The symptoms of Belladonna or Deadly Nightshade poisoning are dilated pupils, blurred vision, headaches, hallucinations, delirium and convulsions. Atropine, the toxin in Belladonna, can kill a person by disrupting the nervous systems ability to regulate breathing, sweating and heart rate.

6. Lily of the Valley

Just like the Daphne, Lily of the Valley may look beautiful and harmless, but it is entirely poisonous. Eating one or two of the plants bell-shaped flowers won’t hurt you very much, especially if you're an adult.

Eaten in large quantities, Lily of the Valley causes pain in the mouth, nausea, vomiting, cramps and diarrhoea. People with heart conditions should be most careful since the toxins cause the heartbeats to slow down or become irregular

7. Daphne

Also known as Lady Laurel or Paradise Plant, Daphne is a 1-1.5 meters tall shrub, usually grown for its scented flowers. All parts of the plant are poisonous, but the greatest concentrations are in the sap and berries.

Daphne contains mezerine and daphnin, two powerful toxins that cause stomach aches, headaches, diarrhoea, delirium and convulsions. If Daphne berries are consumed, the victim might fall into a coma and even die.

Note: These species are present in Malaysia : Oleanders, Angels Trumpets (especially in highlands) and Rhododendrons (different species from the ones in the picture). Kindly take a close look before you start to buy any flowering plants.

Baby Carrots you buy in the Supermarkets

The following is information from a farmer who grows
and packages Carrots for IGA, METRO, LOBLAWS, etc.

The small cocktail (baby) carrots you buy in small plastic bags are made using the larger crooked or deformed carrots which are put through a machine which cuts and shapes them into cocktail carrots. Most people probably know this already.

What you may not know and should know is the following: once the carrots are cut and shaped into cocktail carrots they are dipped in a solution of water and chlorine in order to preserve them (this is the same chlorine used your pool) since they do not have their skin or natural protective covering, they give them a higher dose of chlorine.

You will notice that once you keep these carrots in your refrigerator for a few days, a white covering will form on the carrots, this is the chlorine which resurfaces. At what cost do we put our health at risk to have esthetically pleasing vegetables which are practically plastic?

We do hope that this information can be passed on to as many people as possible in the hopes of informing them where these carrots come from and how they are processed. Chlorine is a very well known carcinogen

This plant that we have in our homes and offices is extremely dangerous!

This plant is common in Kenya , Rwanda, Uganda in plant nurseries, many offices and homes. It is a deadly poison, mainly for the children. It can kill a kid in less than a minute and an adult in 15 minutes. It should be uprooted from gardens and taken out of offices. If touched, one should never touch ones eyes; it can cause partial or permanent blindness.

Bangkok Trip 10 - 15 January 2010

This is my first oversea trip - destination BANGKOK.

It was a fun trip, i think this was the trip that i walk the most!! I thought i cant walk but because want to save money, i was force to walk.

First day arrive, after checked in the hotel, we went to MBK for custom tailor which was highly recommanded by my bro. I make 2 suits and 2 blouses and get 2 blouses FOC.

If you all happen to go Bangkok, just try to make your own custom tailor suit from this shop VIP at MBK exit at Chit Lom Station by BTS :) One suit is around Thai Bath 4000 to 4500, blouse around TB700-TB800 & trouser / skirt around TB1200. After MBK, we went to Chakuchat Night Market. This is a very big bargain store, huge until i dont know how to buy things.

Second day, we went to Arun Wat, Grand Palace other place.. cant recall

Third day, at first we plan to Pataya but then cancel. We went to Pratunam Centre, the wholesaler centre. Things are cheap if you bought 3 items or more. Next we went to INDRA, its another shopping place. We had dinner at the road side neat Centre Point, yummy and cheap.

Forth day, also shopping, BTS hopping, I go out almost every stop. Their BTS are so convenience that each stop has a shopping complex. But most shopping are the same.

Fifth day, prepare for home .. time passes very fast.

New Year Trip 2-3 Jan 2010 to Port Dickson

The very first family trip this year. Our destination was Port Dickson. Initial plan was that we suppossed to start our journey at about 9.30am but as usual, after all the delay, due to our pre-dinner of 'oven chicken'; we started our journey at 10.45 pm.
We took the sepang way so that we can stop by along the journey for some durian :0)
Before we reach the durian, our stomach start calling us to feed 'em. So since we already at Nilai area, we stop for lunch at this restaurant named something like '隆盛佛跳墙饭馆' 'Loon Sing Chinese Cruisin Restaurant'. Foods were delicious and the price should be reasonable lah..
Carry on our durian hunting after lunch and we finally spotted them and start eating by the road side and manage to 'ta pau' some in container ;-)
Cant remember what time we reach our accomodation hotel, the only thing i remember is that the room is not ready! We waited for more than 30 mins for the hotel staff to clean the room.
We moved in once they room was ready. It was a double storey 3 rooms and 3 bathrooms (not detach) 2 halls and no cooking allowed apartment. Disregard to the rules, we still cooked but is only the simple cooking.. lol. We brought our own rice cooker, to cook rice for our dinner.
Dinner was served with the 'oven chicken' other pasar malam food like 'satay ayam' & 'ayam percik' & durian. Then we have our local fruit mangostein (manggis), langsat, rambutan and also grapes. They all went down for beach side walk after dinner, me and my in-laws stay in the room.
Haha.. they came back with 3 beers and 1 stout which it was supposed to be enjoyed at the lounge but they brought back because there are children that were not allowed to enter. The night went on with some chit-chating and soon to bed time.
Today woke up at 8.30am and had my breakfast in the hotel about 9.15am. Do the last event in the pool side before we pack for home.
After a very simple lunch (instant noodle and bread) we check out hotel at 2pm and heading back home. It was hot day today, but halfway thru, sky getting darker and rain came pouring.
Along the way, again we stop by to have durian, but they all say today durian is not very tempting, so bought very little home.
Its already 4 something when we arrive home. Have tea & sandwich for tea time. The day went on back to normal again..
